Shaoxing Tourism Bureau is the government body directly in charge of the tourism industry development in Shaoxing. It has six different departments: General Administration Office; Industry Management Division; Marketing and Promotion Division; Planning and Development Division; Quality Supervision Division and Training Center. Its major responsibilities are as follows:

1. Promote and Implement the guideline and policy for tourism development issued by the Central Government and Provincial Government;
2. Draft out the local regulations related to tourism industry, and carry out these regulations afterwards.
3. Develop middle term and long term tourism industry development strategies for Shaoxing.
4. Be responsible for the development of domestic and international tourism in Shaoxing.
5. Organize and carry out domestic and international marketing strategies and promotional activities.
6. Monitor the service quality of the tourism industry and ensure the legal rights of both tourists and tour operators.
7. Examine and evaluate hotels, travel agencies, and tourist attractions to ensure security.
8. Be responsible for the training and evaluation of the tourism industry staff.
9. Create appropriate environment for tourism development and improve tourism management system in Shaoxing.
